The first group of Afghan Hajj pilgrims has successfully arrived in Medina, Saudi Arabia, marking the commencement of Afghanistan's 2025 Hajj pilgrimage. This initial flight carried 230 pilgrims from Laghman province, who were warmly received by the Afghan Hajj Consulate and committee officials upon arrival. They were then transported to their accommodations in Medina. [1]

Prior to departure, the pilgrims were seen off at Kabul International Airport by Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs Maulvi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Acting Minister of MOHIA Noor Mohammad Saqib, and other high-ranking officials. The officials emphasized the importance of representing Afghanistan honorably during the pilgrimage. [1]

In preparation for the influx of pilgrims, the Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs has implemented measures to ensure better services in Saudi Arabia. This includes early deployment of staff to assist pilgrims and arrangements for accommodations, health services, nutrition, and transportation. The ministry has also coordinated with Saudi authorities to facilitate the pilgrims' stay.

This year, Afghanistan plans to send approximately 30,000 pilgrims to perform Hajj, with flights departing from major cities including Kabul, Herat, Kandahar, and Balkh. The operation is being conducted in collaboration with airlines such as Ariana Afghan Airlines and Kam Air. [1]

The successful arrival of the first group in Medina signifies a significant milestone in Afghanistan's Hajj operations for 2025.
