Tuesday, 30 Safar al-Muzafar 1446 AH (September 21, 2023)
Today, the MOHIA held a press conference regarding the refund of the remaining expenses for the Hajj of the year 1445, in accordance with the year 140, and the announcement of the Hajj for the year 1446. In this press conference, Sheikh al-Hadith Dr. Mufti Noor Muhammad Saqib, the Minister of MOHIA, along with deputies, central heads of this ministry, and media representatives participated.
The session began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, after which the Minister of MOHIA provided detailed and comprehensive explanations regarding the refund of remaining funds for pilgrims. He stated:
"Despite having a series of time constraints, with the help of Allah Almighty, in the year 1445, we were able to send (30,000) thirty thousand pilgrims from our country to the holy sites to perform Hajj according to the allocated quota from Saudi Arabia. Thank Allah , this process was successfully carried out in a better manner.
He added that the cost of Hajj per pilgrim was (3828.12) three thousand eight hundred twenty-eight dollars and twelve cents. After precise calculations of expenses, the MOHIA will refund (37.8564) thirty-seven dollars and approximately eighty-five cents to each pilgrim.
Mr. Saqib further mentioned that paying eighty-five cents is somewhat complicated; therefore, an equivalent amount of sixty Afghanis and forty-seven pul will be paid. Additionally, paying (47) forty-seven pul is also quite challenging. Thus, we have rounded this amount to one full Afghani. In summary, each pilgrim will receive (37) thirty-seven dollars and (61) sixty-one Afghanis.
Continuing his remarks, the Minister of MOHIA   stated: "Despite our significant efforts to reduce Hajj costs, these expenses have slightly increased for various reasons."
1. Last year's price for a tent in Mecca was (2400) two thousand four hundred Saudi riyals, which has increased to (2780) two thousand seven hundred eighty riyals this year.
2. Last year’s expense per pilgrim in the tents at Mashair was (784) seven hundred eighty-four Saudi riyals, while this year this price has risen to (926) nine hundred twenty-six riyals. Similarly, prices have increased in other areas as well.
In conclusion, the Minister stated: "It is not necessary for pilgrims to receive their remaining funds at a specific time; rather, this money is their right and is held in trust at the bank. Whenever pilgrims are able to come and it is convenient for them, they can visit the bank to receive their money. However, payments will begin tomorrow, Wednesday, God willing."
Therefore, esteemed pilgrims are kindly requested to bring their original and colored copies of their passports and identification documents to receive their remaining Hajj expenses at the relevant authority (MOHIA or the provincial departments of MOHIA)
